Bering Sea Days

Connecting Communities, Nurturing Stewardship, Fostering a Legacy of Conservation

Bering Sea Days is a unique program created by the Ecosystem Conservation Office on the island of St. Paul, Alaska. Since the programs launch 10 years ago, it has drawn in a wide variety of scientists, educators, and enthusiasts that share the focus of the Bering Sea ecosystem.  Contributors participate for a week of classes and activities that engage the local youth and community of the St. Paul school system.  This is an opportunity for the students to interact with professional biologists and educators from all around the world that are actively conducting research in the Bering Sea.  This experience not only educates local youth, but it also inspires them to become stewards of their home.

We are extremely privileged to have partnered with the Ecosystem Conservation Office to showcase this wonderful program.   The aim of this program is to strengthen the bond between the Aleut culture and the knowledge gained from the Bering Sea region, while encouraging other communities to participate in this program or create their own.
