Greater Sage-Grouse

Emblem of the American West

The Greater Sage-Grouse is one of the most enigmatic bird species of the Great Basin Desert. Their breeding display is one of the most dramatic and bizarre in all of the animal world, with males “popping” out a brightly colored air sack and producing an other-worldly song. The Greater Sage-Grouse has also become one of the most controversial bird species of the Great Basin, with the news of their possible endangered species listing in 2015. This film, directed and shot by researcher Tatiana Gettlemen and produced in partnership with the US Geological Survey, will take viewers through the life cycle of the Sage-grouse, laying out the conservation threats faced by this fascinating bird species.
