WLC Member Showcase: Adam Campbell-Olszewski

Welcome everyone! My name is Adam Campbell-Olszewski and I am a graphic designer and photographer, all my pieces of work are inspired by the various things within nature. Since a kid I have always been fascinated by nature. Everything from having a cabin on the shores of Lake Superior to my conservancy work voluntarily at the Mississippi Valley Conservancy.

In 2014, I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Business Administration. In the beginning at Northern Michigan University, I knew I wanted a degree in graphic design, having come from a creative and artsy family.

Logo design created for the Mississippi Valley Conservancy

Since graduation, I have been trying to find my niche within the graphic design world. My expertise’s purpose became very prominent a few years ago, upon interviewing with a local conservancy in the La Crosse, WI area. The Mississippi Valley Conservancy helped me realize how important nature and protecting the land was in my life. I began volunteering there in 2016 and haven’t stopped. Creating logos, stickers, and many other cool design projects! In 2020, they gave me an award for Graphic Design Volunteer of the Year for all my hard work.

In 2020, continuing to live my dream of wanting to travel this world by bus, car, or foot. I have decided to leave the full-time office space life of graphic design and started building my freelance career. I am currently working on building my client base within conservancies and businesses that care about the environment and nature.

Along this whole journey, I have had an eye for photography. Nature photography has always been deep in my heart. Growing up with the lake so close to me, the water flows within my veins, and help me take great photography!

National Parks have been a prominent focus in my graphic design inspiration lately with me creating emblems for each National Park within the United States. The project was self developed and is only shown to my Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram followers. Eventually I would like to have this project printed of stickers, shirts, and posters!

The vision within this project was to be super creative and abstract at the same time, highlighting certain characteristics that represent the national park that I am creating an emblem for, and the colors also being very bright and vibrant. The designs themselves were inspired by images of these places. Taking shapes to make mountains, rivers, likes, and valleys with the use of color. I created every part of these emblems, even the various animals that you will see within some of these designs.

Joining the Wild Lens Collective in 2020, I am excited to be one of the newer members to this group. I recently joined a podcast that will be released soon and looking forward to helping this Collective grow as a whole. I am truly inspired by this Collective. The mission aligns with my dreams. I appreciate having the opportunity to be part of this Collective. Helping better the environment and the natural world together.
