Guardians: boots on the ground conservation docuseries
We recently spoke to WLC member/director & cinematographer Kendra Carano about her latest film project - Guardians - which is a docuseries focusing on ‘boots on the ground’ conservation work happening throughout Africa.
You may be aware of the concept of conservation, but do you know what the day-to-day reality looks like?
“This docu series aims to educate people all over the world about conservation, its challenges and the incredible people working to protect our wild spaces. We have been working with different groups and organizations showcasing each one per episode. It’s a 6 episode doc series.
Our mission is to highlight the often-overlooked stories of the real people working in the field to protect these animals - the so-called Guardians of Conservation. What is shared by conservation marketing materials is only the surface level of what it takes to protect our planet and the diverse species that live on it.”
“Our goal is to provide people with an authentic understanding of what conservation work is, what is happening on the ground, why it is so important right now and how people can help. We have filmed everyone from wildlife vets and rangers in South Africa, to elephant defenders in Namibia. The project is meant to show people what is really happening on the ground day to day in conservation. We are currently in post production with some production planned this year for pick up shots.”
You can keep up to date with the production on their Instagram and their website.
