Island in the Sky

Witness the Majesty of Raptor Migration at Goshute Mountains Hawkwatch.

In remote northeastern Nevada there is a very special place for migrating birds of prey – the Goshute Mountains. Every autumn, upwards of 20,000 migrating raptors will fly along this ridge top on a journey to their wintering grounds. It is here that the non-profit group HawkWatch International has conducted raptor migration studies since 1983. Learn what makes the Goshute Mountains Hawkwatch so special for these amazing birds, and see what researchers are learning about their migration at one of the premier ridge-top migration sites in North America.
